MIT and Sun Microsystems actively partnered SABB 2007
Colombo Sri Lanka, 7 September 2007- MillenniumESP, Sri Lanka’s leading enterprise and telecom solutions provider, together with Sun Microsystems further demonstrated its ever strengthening presence in the telecom sector by actively partnering the first ever south Asia Broadband Communications Congress and Expo 2007 held in Colombo last week. SABB 2007, which attracted industry experts from around the world addressed the fast growing broadband markets of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Peter D’Almedia, Chief Executive of MillenniumESP said that the SABB, which was geared for service providers faced with the challenges of content and services in today’s converging communications industry where broadband plays a key role, was an ideal event for MillenniumESP’s participation. He noted that, “since 2000, MillenniumESP has been a strong player in the telecom sector and a leading provider of converged IP-based solutions.
According to him, over 70% of MillenniumESP’s business portfolio is in this fast growing telecom sector. Although MillenniumESP has been seen primarily as a systems integrator, D’Almeida pointed out that they are now a front runner as a provider of telecom solutions, with Next Generation Networking and converged IP- based solutions. “So it is a natural extension of our business to partner this pioneering effort,” he said.
Sun Microsystems Channels Director Alex Tay said, "We have been a dominant player in the telecom industry and we considered this an excellent forum to connect with our key customers and partners in the region.” He added that “Sun’s participation at the Congress underlies our commitment to the Sri Lankan market.
