Millenniumit Partners Sun Microsystems to offer Solaris Training

MillenniumIT recently announced that it has kicked off a partnership with Sun Microsystems to offer Sun Solaris Training programs for corporate and software professionals in the country. This is the first time specialized Sun certification programs are offered in Sri Lanka.

With courses currently scheduled on a monthly basis and conducted by Sun certified instructors, attendees will learn about the latest Sun technologies, tools and technical know-how on Solaris 10 system administration.

Initially, only seven types of courses will be scheduled with MillenniumIT expecting to increase programs in the near future. Course offerings will include Unix Essentials featuring Solaris 10 Operating System, and Intermediate Systems Administration for Solaris 10. More specialized programs include Advanced System Administration for Solaris 10, Install Configure and Maintain SAN Environment, Solaris System Performance Management, N/W Administration for Solaris 10 and Sun Cluster 3.2 Administration. These programs will be offered as modular specialization programs in the MillenniumIT campus.

This collaboration between MillenniumIT and Sun Microsystems is expected to cultivate the necessary IT skills to compete in today's fast growing global IT industry. "In an industry of emerging technologies, we want to empower people to be in the forefront of technology advances" said Ranjaka Adikaram, Technical Head of Data Center Services at MillenniumIT. "This initiative is in line with our efforts to provide the best technology training in the IT industry."

These programs will allow professionals to upgrade on Solaris 10 skills. 'The Network Economy has ushered in new, dramatically different business models that have changed both the skill sets needed and approach with which individuals, communities and companies compete and succeed," said Alex Tay, Sales Director, PIROAS. "I am glad that the local technology community in Sri Lanka will now have access to training that enables skills to further drive the participation age in Sri Lanka and increase its competitiveness in the region."
