The MillenniumIT Effort to Support the Internally Displaced People in Vakarai

The employees of MillenniumIT raised approximately Rs200, 000 to purchase clothes and dry rations for the internally displaced people in Vakarai, placed in the “VEDARKUDI ERUPPU” Refugee Camp in Batticaloa. These items were handed over to the President of the Rotary Club (East) on March 2, 2007 by the Chief Operations Officer of MillenniumIT, Dr. Anushal Amarasinghe.

The camp contained hundreds of our people who were displaced due to the on-going riots in the Vakarai area. They faced numerous difficulties, amongst them being the shortage of clothes and dry rations.

MillenniumIT staff wanting to share a glimse of New Year happiness with them, initiated the fund raising, and were able to handover large stocks of new clothes and dry rations to the Red Cross Society of Batticaloa. This help was highly appreciated by both IDP as well as the Red Cross Society and their gratitude was expressed towards the staff of MillenniumIT.
